Trial run on Delhi Metro's upcoming Line 8 has been extended up to Botanical Garden in Noida, the terminal station of the corridor, from Kalindi Kunj.
The 37-km-long corridor, part of metro's Phase III project, will connect Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West.
Trial runs are being launched in a staggered manner across the line. With yesterday's extension, the length of the section under trial has gone up to 13.5 kilometre.
Earlier in August, trial runs had been extended between Kalindi Kunj and Kalkaji Mandir stations of this corridor.
Metro's new UTO (Unattended Train Operations) enabled trains will operate on this corridor and they will now undergo trials between these stations to ensure smooth operations after the commissioning of the corridor.
The new signalling technology to be implemented on this corridor and Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) will also undergo rigorous testing during the trials.
The section between Botanical Garden and Kalkaji Mandir consists of nine elevated stations - Botanical Garden (interchange with Blue Line), Okhla Bird Sanctuary, Kalindi Kunj, Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh, Okhla Vihar, Jamia Milia Islamia, Sukhdev Vihar, Okhla NSIC and Kalkaji Mandir.
