Tribal couple held for driving elderly neighbour to suicide

A tribal couple from neighbouring Palghar district has been arrested for allegedly driving their 60-year-old neighbour to commit suicide, police said today.
According to police, Dharma Bhaswat killed himself by drinking some poisonous substance on Monday as he was fed up with the constant harassment and beating by Krishna Bhaswat (40) and his wife Ranjana (32).
A police official said the couple suspected Dharma and his wife were practicing 'black magic' due to which Ranjana was unable to conceive.
The duo used to abuse and beat Dharma and his wife often, said sub-inspector A N Patil of Kasa police station.

Police booked the couple under section 306 of IPC on the basis of the complaint filed by Dharma's daughter.
