The state government has recently divided Thane into two districts, with Palghar as the new district and will come into being from August 1.
President of Adivasi Ekta Parishad, Kaluram Dodhade today said that local tribals will protest under their banner outisde the Divisional Commissioner office at Konkan Bhavan here next week on Wednesday.
Dodhade, told PTI that other social tribal outfits will also join them to press for their demand of a separate tribal-dominated district, as their population is more than 1.25 crore in the district.
Meanwhile, the BJP district unit is also opposed the bifurcation and have demanded a separate tribal district with Jawhar as its headquarters.
