The youth, a resident of Salaguda village of Kandhamal district was arrested yesterday and was sent to jail by the G.Udayagiri sub-divisional judicial magistrate, who rejected his bail petition.
Tikabali police station IIC Aditya Kumar Sethi said that the youth was in a relationship with class seven girl for the past two years.
On June 28, the girl, who stayed with her uncle, went missing and could not be traced by her family members. However, on July 11 morning some cowherds informed the girl's uncle that the decomposed body of a girl with multiple injury in different parts of the body was lying in a bush in the nearby forest.
Involvement of some other persons in the crime is being suspected, he added.
