Party workers led by district president Rajinder Beri offered flowers and garlands on Nehru's photo at Congress Bhawan here.
Beri said that Nehru played an important role in the development of the country, especially that of Punjab.
The former PM was a non-partisan leader and had an unmatched quality to take quick decisions without caste and class considerations, he added.
He said that the void created in the country after his death in 1964 could never be made up for.
Born on November 14, 1889, Nehru was one of the prominent nationalist leaders of the freedom struggle in the 20th century and the central figure of independent India as its first Prime Minister till his demise on May 27, 1964.
