Trinamool Congress MP Satabdi Roy, who had shared the dais with some dissident party leaders two months ago, was today removed from the post of the chairperson of Sriniketan Santiniketan Development Authority (SSDA).
Mridul Halder, executive officer of SSDA, told the media that they got an order from the state urban affairs department regarding appointment of Chandranath Sinha as the new chairman of the organisation.
Sinha is the Bolpur MLA and also the state fisheries minister.
A filmstar-turned-politician, Satabdi had participated in a blood donation camp with three other party MPs -- Kunal Ghosh, Tapas Pal and Somen Mitra -- and rebel party MLA Shikha Mitra in September.
This invited the wrath of the party leaders as a section of Trinamool leadership was criticised at the function.
After meeting party general secretary Mukul Roy, Satabdi however said she had herself relinquished from the post due to other preoccupations.
"I had told Mamata 'di' to relieve me from duty as I have my 'Jatra' (theatre) in December. I will be busy with all that," Roy told reporters when asked.
Mukul Roy also defended the decision, saying it is the prerogative of the government and they can keep anyone they wish to.
"I was also an adviser to the government, I was also removed. It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister who will be the adviser. There is no controversy here," he said.
