Deploring the 'attack' on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee outside the Planning Commission earlier this month, Trinamool Congress MPs today staged a dharna in front of Parliament complex.
Targeting the CPI-M for the incident, party MPs shouted slogans demanding the arrest of "CPI-M goons" and said they would not allow Parliament to function till they are arrested.
"The session will not run till the CPI-M goons are arrested," said the members comprising Sudip Bandopadhyay, Mukul Roy, Saygata Roy, Derek O Brien, Kalyan Banerjee, Sisir Adhikari, Dinesh Trivedi etc.
They also raised slogans against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, criticising him for the "inaction of the government" in the matter.
Later on, party MPs trooped into the Well of the Lok Sabha raising slogans on heckling of the Chief Minister by SFI activists in Delhi.
Mamata and her Finance Minister Amit Mitra were on April 9 the target of the ire of CPI-M and its students' wing activists with protesters manhandling the minister outside the Planning Commission.
A group of about 150 protesters from CPI-M and SFI attacked the chief minister and other ministers including Amit Mitra when they arrived at the Planing Commission complex that day for annual state plan discussion.
The chief minister, who cut short her visit here and returned back to Kolkata following the incident, had lashed out at Delhi Police for "poor" arrangements.
"Delhi is not safe", she had told reporters before leaving.
