Dana Seetahal died shortly after midnight today when assassins in two cars opened fire after cutting off her vehicle on a street in Port-of-Spain's Woodbrook neighbourhood. She died in the driver's seat of her car. At least 15 shells were found at the scene.
There have been no arrests.
Attorney General Anand Ramlogan says the Caribbean country's legal profession "lost a titan."
Seetahal was a former independent senator and former assistant solicitor general. An anti-crime organisation is offering USD 155,000 for any information leading to arrests and convictions.
