Tripura election department gears up for roll revision

The Tripura Election department has geared up for conducting summary revision of photo electoral rolls for all the 60 Assembly constituencies of the state in view of the impending national and state panchayat polls, official sources said today.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Asutosh Jindal said the draft voters list was published here yesterday with January 1, 2014 as base year and according to the draft electoral rolls, the total number of electors was 23.48 lakh of which 11.96 lakh are male and 11.52 lakh are female.
The claims and objections on draft voters list will start from September 2 and continue till October 1 this year and the final electoral rolls would be published on January 6, 2014.

"We have given copy of summary revision schedule to the representatives of all political parties and sought cooperation from them", he said.
The three-tier state Panchayat elections is also due this year.
