"During his visit we would submit a memorandum demanding creation of more infrastructures to improve communication through Bangladesh," he said.
While stating that communication through Bangladesh is very important for a land locked state like Tripura, the minister said that the state wanted to take up the issue of full time use of the Ashuganj river port as well as its smooth functioning on Meghna for transshipment of goods for north eastern region with Bangladesh.
"We also want India to take up with Bangladesh the access to the Chittagong port and develop Agartala airport as an international airport for creating connectivity with Dhaka and Chittagong," Sarkar said.
The Chief Minister Sarkar added that during Modi's visit to the state to inaugurate the second unit of 726 mw gas based thermal power project at Palatana, the state will propose steps to make itself 'an education hub' for wooing students from different south-Asian countries.
The Tripura government, ONGC and Chambal Fertilizer company had signed a MOU for setting up a fertiliser company in the state by using the natural gas here, but the pace of the work has been slow, Sarkar said.
We would ask for the Prime Minister's intervention for a faster implementation of the project, he added.
