In an open letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy tonight, he alleged that the government chose to release water for the crops in non-Telangana regions, but did not bother to provide adequate power supply for the benefit of farmers in Telangana, who are dependent on ground water for cultivation.
Though the demand of power for cultivation is quite high in Telangana, the government has failed to take concrete steps to meet the requirements of the farmers, he claimed.
The proposed power projects in Karimnagar district, Ranga Reddy district and Khammam district in Telangana failed to take off, despite being contemplated several years ago, he alleged.
He demanded that the state government should release a White Paper on power consumption in the state and announce a plan of action for completing the pending projects.
The state government should immediately purchase power from the national grid and private companies to alleviate the sufferings of the farmers, the TRS president added.
Meanwhile, TRS MLA K T Rama Rao led a group of party leaders and workers in a protest march against the auction of land by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), contending that this would do injustice to Telangana.
