Aiming to strengthen the party organisation ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls, newly-appointed TRS working president K T Rama Rao Tuesday decided to hold assembly constituency-level meetings across the state.
Rama Rao, son of TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, took the decision at a meeting with the party's general secretaries here, a day after assuming charge of his new role, party sources said.
He directed the party leaders to organise the assembly constituency-level meetings from December 22 to 24 where the agenda would be to discuss about preparation for enrolling all eligible voters during the coming revision of the voters list, they said.
Names of a large number of voters were reportedly found missing in the electoral rolls for the recent assembly polls and this led to a fall in the victory margins of TRS nominees, the sources said.
The TRS returned to power with a thumping win in the December 7 polls, securing 88 out of the total 119 assembly seats.
Rama Rao asked the party rank and file to actively participate in the voters' enrolment exercise planned by the Election Commission from December 26, the sources said.
At the meeting, it was also decided to construct buildings for the TRS offices in all districts.
The party had already acquired land in the districts and the construction activity would begin after the party president approved the building designs, Rama Rao said.
After the resounding success in the assembly polls, TRS has said it would play a role in national politics.
Rama Rao had earlier said Telangana's interests would be safeguarded if TRS won 16 out of the total 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency is held by TRS' ally AIMIM which had been winning it in successive polls in the past few decades.
