Truck owner attempts suicide outside police station

A 48-year-old truck owner today allegedly attempted suicide by slitting his throat in front of the Bidhnu police station here, police said.
Manoj Sonkar, a resident of Jahanabad, allegedly took this step as his trucks would be impounded frequently during checks carried out by the Regional Transport Office of Transport Department, SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said.
Sonkar's relatives alleged he was emotionally disturbed as he would then have to spend huge amounts of money to get his two trucks released, police added.
This morning, RTO officials impounded his truck and brought it to the Bindhu police station following which Manoj attempted suicide by slitting his throat in front of the station, he said.

He was rushed to a government hospital and his condition is stated to be out of danger, SP said.
The SP said it is possible that Manoj did not have proper documents of the truck or he did not pay taxes and added the matter is under investigation.
