Phone directory app Truecaller today said its user base in India has crossed the 100 million mark, making it the largest for the Scandinavian company.
"Truecaller has solved the most basic but inherent problem for millions of users and as we move forward, our aim is to take this experience to every corner of the country," Truecaller Country Manager India Kari Krishnamurthy told PTI.
He added that the company is on track to cross the 150-million mark by December this year.
Globally, it has 150 million users. Its other major markets include the Middle East, North Africa and the US.
"A few months ago, major growth was coming from metros. But now, its tier II and III towns are also growing fast for us. These cities are already 30-35 per cent of the base in India," he said.
In India, Truecaller has also forged strategic partnerships with companies like Microsoft, Tata DoCoMo, Micromax and Twitter to widen its services.
"India has always been one of the most important markets for Truecaller and we are ecstatic at having achieved this milestone. Through our consumer-centric strategy based on relevant innovations, we aim to simplify our users' lives each day," Truecaller CEO and co-founder Alan Mamedi said.
The company's India headcount stands at 10 which it plans to double by the end of 2016. Globally, it has around 100 employees.
Over the past year, Truecaller has been focusing on tier II and III markets in India.
Recently, it launched its first brand campaign with popular Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
