"I hope it's Donald Trump. He's getting the nomination," Ryan told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference when asked about a latest opinion poll in which 58 per cent of the respondents said they trust more, while another 39 per cent opted for him.
"He (Trump) should. He's wrapping up the nomination," said the House Speaker who a few weeks ago said that he is not ready to support the New Yorker as the Republican presidential nominee.
"I hope it is because the person who's getting the nomination of our party is the person to lead our party," Ryan said referring to the fact that more people trust Trump rather than him.
