President-elect Donald Trump declared today that controversy over allegations that Russian hackers tried to interfere in the US election amounted to a "political witch hunt."
"This is a political witch hunt," he told The New York Times, claiming that a Chinese breach of Office of Personnel Management computers in late 2014 and early 2015 drew comparatively little attention.
US intelligence chiefs were due to brief Trump later in the day on what they say is evidence that Russian leaders attempted to distort the poll by hacking his opponents.
