The trust which had been the cornerstone of relationship between school authorities and parents of wards so long, was waning fast as visible from the recent undesired incidents taking place in various academic premises, noted filmmaker Nandita Roy said.
Roy, along with co-director Shiboprasad Mukherjee has made renowned Bengali films like 'Ramdhanu', 'Belasheshe' and 'Posto'. They are currently busy with post-production of their next film 'Hami', which portrays the diminishing faith of parents in schools and vice-versa.
Speaking on the occasion of International Women's Day at an event organised by an English medium pre-school chain here, Roy said nowadays, the school authorities were scared about disciplining students fearing retaliation by parents.
"Our new film has made an attempt to portray that. We have done a lot of research by talking to the principals of several schools where the common refrain was academics has become secondary now," she said.
"In our times, if we were scolded by our teachers at school, we felt scared in reporting this to our parents who were of the view that some commissions must have been done from our side," Roy said.
Now, the scenario is just the opposite, and parents now go the school and start complaining about the teachers concerned, the film-maker said.
Playback singer Imon Chakraborty was felicitated at the event by the directors of Little Laureates Tamal Mukherjee and Timir Mukherjee.
