Trying to resolve issue of assault of NE people in Tis Hazari:

The Delhi High Court has been informed by its bar association that it is trying to resolve the issue of some persons, including a woman lawyer, from northeast who were abused and manhandled by two advocates from Tis Hazari district court.
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, however, questioned how a PIL can be compromised with.
"It is a PIL. There can't be any compromise," the bench said and listed the matter for further hearing on February 4, 2015.
The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) submitted before the court that some advocates from Tiz Hazari have approached them for resolving the issue and they are taking steps for the same.

The counsel for the victims, meanwhile, said they are not aware of any such settlement proposal.
The court was hearing a contempt plea filed by the victims who had gone to Tis Hazari courts on May 23 for recording of the statement of a girl from northeast in a molestation case and were allegedly abused and assaulted by some lawyers inside the courtroom of a magistrate.

The girl, who was allegedly molested on the night of May 22 outside Vishwa Vidyalaya Metro station by an advocate, was accompanied by her friends and a woman lawyer to a magisterial court in Tis Hazari for recording of her statement, the plea had said.

The lawyers, who had gathered inside the courtroom in support of their accused colleague, allegedly hurled abuses against the victim and her supporters and assaulted some of them, including the woman advocate, the plea had said.
Earlier, Delhi Police had told the court that there was sufficient evidence against the two alleged contemnor lawyers, Azad Chandra Prakash Gautam and Varun Jain, in the case.
