The CBI has registered a case of murder into the suspicious death of senior engineer of Engineers India Ltd, Shashank Yadav, 20 months after his body was found hanging in a Noida stadium.
The 28-year-old Yadav, who was purportedly provided CBI some crucial documents related to alleged corruption in the EIL, was found hanging in the Ladies' toilet of Noida stadium on March 13, 2013.
Although, it came in the post-mortem report that death was by hanging, local police in its probe had found that there were external injury marks on his body leading to suspicion of him being murdered.
Family of Yadav had demanded a CBI enquiry into the death of Yadav as it suspected that murder was a result of corrupt people fearing exposure before the agency. Based on a complaint from Yadav's father, Noida police had registered a case of murder.
His father had alleged that Shashank was going to give statement and documents related to alleged corruption in EIL, which was being probed by CBI, to the agency on March 13 on the day he was murdered.
"It was alleged in the complaint that Shashank Yadav was murdered and his body was hanged in the toilet of the stadium, Sector 21-A, under Police Station Sector 24, Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar," CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said here today.
