TTFI delegates to attend ITTF Congress

A four-member delegation of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), led by its president Prabhat C Chaturvedi, will attend the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Congress to be held at Tokyo during the World Table Tennis Championships from April 28-May 5.
The other members of the delegation include TTFI secretary-general Dhanraj Choudhary, vice-presidents Chiranjib Choudhary and Arun Kumar Banerjee. The delegates left for Tokyo in the wee hours today.
During the Congress, there will be several meetings that will discuss the progress on various events, including the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow (July-August) and the Asian Games at Incheon, Korea (September-October), besides other continental championships the world over.
Chaturvedi, who is also the president of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation as well as a council member of the Asian Table Tennis Union, will indulge in organisational nitty-gritty of the Glasgow Games and also the Commonwealth table tennis championships which New Delhi will host next year.
As for Dhanraj Choudhary, who is on the ITTF's Board of Directors, will discuss, formulate and decide on the rules and guidelines governing the sport the world over. At another level, Coudhary, who is the treasurer of the ATTU, will attend the meetings to take stock of the situation on the Asian Games and other continental events lined up next year.
The technical committees from different continents will also meet to discuss and suggest ways and means to improve the standards, various aspects of the sport with the ITTF top bosses.
