Rising for a second straight day, turmeric prices were up by 1.09 per cent to Rs 8,518 per quintal in futures trading today as participants engaged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on uptick in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May month went up by Rs 92, or 1.09 per cent to Rs 8,518 per quintal with an open interest of 5725 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in far-month June contracts traded higher by Rs 34, or 0.42 per cent to Rs 8,226 per quintal in 26,625 lots.
Analysts said the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade was mostly attributed to widening of positions by traders, triggered by a firm trend at the spot market on rising demand.
