Tusker found dead in Jalpaiguri

A tusker was found dead by villagers at Buxa forest range of Jalpaiguri disrict, forest officials said today.
According to Buxa East forest range director JV Bhaskar, the tusker of approximately 40-45 years of age was found dead inside the core area.
The elephant, the tusker of which was intact, has been sent for post mortem after which the cause of its death could be ascertained, he said.
Of late, jumbos have fallen prey particularly for their prized tuskers and Bhaskar informed that at least three of them were killed in the core area of the range since April this year.
