"Talks are rife that what will happen if Shiv Sena pulls out of the government. But it is unlikely that they will pull the plug and walk out of the government, as it seems that whatever is happening between both the parties is not real, but a just a farce," Chavan said in a press conference after a roadshow.
His comments come against the backdrop of Shiv Sena leadership threatening to walk out of the Devendra Fadnavis government.
"We feel that this mudslinging is a deliberate attempt to run away from the main issues and to cover the failure of government of the last two years," he alleged.
Chavan said there are speculations that if the government destabilises, what would be the alternate arrangements. "I do not want to get into that debate, but Congress is ready to face any situation. I want to make it clear that in any condition, Congress will not give support to Shiv Sena as it is a communal party," he said.
The Congress leader hit out at BJP and CM for "allowing goons in the party" and quipped, "Now, I am feeling that the CM has started a workshop to correct these people with criminal background."
Chavan said that both the state as well as central government failed to fulfil the promises they had made during the elections.
The growth rate has gone down due to demonetisation, he said adding, "Due to the note ban, people have lost their jobs, growth rate has gone down, but government is not ready to declare how much black money it has received.
