Television star Divyanka Tripathi believes the audience develops a sense of "belongingness" with TV actors as they enter their households every day through the small screen.
The actor believes viewers find TV stars more approachable than film celebrities.
"The audience thinks we are their own people, we are part of their family. When they meet us they don't meet like strangers, they never hesitate in approaching us. They know Ishita (her character from serial 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein') and they are connected to her.
"While, film actors are unreachable and are bigger than life, that sense of belonging audience get with TV actors," Divyanka told PTI.
The 33-year-old actor, however, is open to the idea of joining films, provided something interesting comes her way.
Divyanka is on cloud nine as her show "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" recently completed 1,500-plus episodes.
"We were getting appreciation from everywhere. But we did not know that we will reach 1,500 episodes. The journey has been smooth. The storyline was amazing and we never felt stagnant as actors.
"I have learnt a lot of things from my character of Ishita, who has been a fighter, a woman who always stands up for the right things, and is also a wonderful wife and a mother. She is inspiring and this is how I would like to be in real life," she adds.
The actor believes the credit for the long-running programme goes to its creative team and her co-actors.
The Ekta Kapoor-backed serial was initially one of the highest rated shows on Indian television but this year saw a dip in TRPs.
"It (TRP) matters whether the track is good or bad. Our show earlier came at 7.30 p.m. and now it airs at 10.30 p.m. It may not be getting great TRPs, but we are having a great time shooting. Our show is doing well abroad too, especially in the UK," Divyanka says.
