Assistant producer of a private news channel Shivam Tripathi told Vijay Nagar police in his complaint that on the intervening night of March 15 and 16, as he was returning home, he saw a man lying on the road at NH 24.
When he stepped out his car, the man stood up and suddenly 7-8 men hiding in roadside bushes pounced upon him and hit him with pistol butts.
They then bundled him inside his car and three of them rode his car to the jungles of Dasna while the other four followed them in another Santro car.
Tripathi was left in the forest with no mode of communication in the night. Hearing his cries in the morning, nearby villagers came and freed him.
City Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma said an FIR under section 392 of IPC has been registered.
