The new TVS XL 100 is powered by a 99.7 cc four stroke engine and can achieve a top speed of 60 km per hour.
The company has retained the existing "XL Super" form and in a statement claimed that the moped would give a mileage of 67 km under "simulated" test conditions.
In 2015, TVS Motor said sales of XL Super crossed the one crore mark that was conceived by TVS Motor's (Late) Chairman T S Srinivasan and current Chairman Venu Srinivasan in 1980.
"This launch reiterates our commitment to deliver high quality, customer centric products and also underlines our commitment to establish a strong brand connect with our customers," TVS Motor, Vice-President Sales and Service, J S Srinivasan said.
TVS Motor currently retails XL Super, scooterette Scooty Pep, Pep+, Zest, Streak, Wego, Jupiter and motorcycles Sport, Star City+, Victor and Apache. The company also sells auto-rickshaw TVS King.
