The Chennai-based company had sold 2,20,079 units in the same month last year.
Total two-wheeler sales during the month grew 13 per cent to 2,38,320 units as against 2,10,843 units in the same month a year ago, TVS Motor Company said in a regulatory filing.
Motorcycle sales rose 5.62 per cent to 96,485 units in May, as compared to 91,344 units in the same month a year ago.
Scooter sales grew 20.22 per cent to 65,434 units from 54,426 units in the same month a year ago.
Exports in May were down 18.46 per cent at 35,545 units as against 43,595 units in the corresponding month last year.
