Twitter has appointed Anthony Noto as Chief Financial Officer to succeed Mike Gupta, who will now be part of the microblogging site's strategic investments division.
"Mike Gupta, Twitter Chief Financial Officer, will be assuming the role of Senior Vice President, Strategic Investments, within the next 30 days," Twitter said in an SEC filing.
It added that Noto will replace Gupta as CFO within the next 30 days.
Noto, 46, served as a Managing Director in the Technology, Media and Telecom Investment Banking Group at Goldman, Sachs & Co from October 2010 to June 2014.
He has also served as the CFO of the National Football League and has held various roles at Goldman Sachs.
Describing his new role as a "once in a lifetime opportunity", Noto tweeted: "I could not be more excited about joining the @Twitter team & helping them reach every person in the world. #indispensable".
Gupta also tweeted that he was thrilled to start his new role as Head of Strategic Investments.
Noto's annual salary will be USD 250,000 and he will receive a one-time stock award of 1.5 million shares (restricted stock units) of Twitter.
Last month, Twitter COO Ali Rowghani had put in his papers after four years.
The San Francisco-based social media company has been trying to increase its user base, especially in emerging countries, including India.
Twitter claims to have 255 million monthly active users with 500 million tweets sent every day. About 78 per cent of its active users are on mobile and 77 per cent of the accounts are outside the US. It supports over 35 languages.
