Police officers said the duo have been identified as Amar Shanker Singh (27) and Vijay Shanker Singh (24). Both are sons of Ramji Singh, a resident of Sarlakhi village under Samho police station of the district.
"The incident occurred when the jawans were going on a motorcycle to take bath at Simaria Ghat on the banks of the Ganga River. They collided head-on with a speeding JCB machine coming from the opposite direction," said Chakia SHO Gunjan Kumar.
Amar was posted at Jammu and Kashmir, while Vijay was deployed at Patiala. Both had come to their home town on holiday. The police has sent their bodies to the government hospital for post-mortem.
