Two arrested for possessng firearm and weapons

Two persons were arrested for possessing firearms and weapons in Periyanaickenpalam forest range in the district today, police said.
Based on information, forest officials kept vigil in Palamalai, when a car with two persons moved in the area.
After stopping the vehicle, the official carried out a search and found a five-foot long country made single barrel rifle, cartridges, gunpowder and knifes and some fuse wires, police said.
After interrogation, forest officials handed over the two, identified as Prabhu and Kanagaraj to the local police and registered cases under Protection of Wildlife Act and possessing firearms without valid licence, they said.
