Two candidates from the BJP Tuesday filed their nomination papers for the Ladakh parliamentary constituency which goes to polls in the fifth phase on May 6, officials said.
The candidates, Tsering Namgyal and Dorji Angchuk, filed their nomination papers from the seat before the Returning Officer, Avny Lavasa, they said.
With this, a total of three candidates have so far filed their nominations from this seat. Congress candidate Rigzin Spalbar Monday filed his nomination papers from the seat.
The last day for filing of nomination papers for Ladakh parliamentary constituency is April 18.
The 31-year old Namgyal, who serving as the current chief executive councillor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), remained private secretary to the former BJP MP and renowned Buddhist spiritual leader, Thupstan Chhewang.
A graduate from University of Jammu, Namgyal took over as CEC of the hill development council on November 10 last year.
Congress candidate Spalbar, a prominent Buddhist leader and two-time chief executive councillor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, was the first to file his papers before the returning officer at Leh.
Veteran leader Thupstan Chhewang had won the seat for the BJP for the first time in 2014, but he resigned from the primary membership of the party in November last year, saying that all promises made by the BJP sounded like an "empty rhetoric".
