Two complaints were filed against Union Minister Giriraj Singh today by Congress workers separately at two places for his racist barb against Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
One complaint was filed at Muzaffarpur while the other was submitted at Darbhanga.
In Muzaffarpur, Sanjay Kumar Singh filed a complaint against Giriraj Singh in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ved Prakash Singh, who transferred the case to the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Anju Singh.
The SDJM directed Mithanpura police station to register a case against the minister on the basis of the complaint, Sumit Kumar, lawyer of the petitioner, said.
The SDJM gave the order to Mithanpura police station under Section 166 of IPC (public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury to any person).
The complainant, a resident of Miscote colony of Muzaffarpur, said in the petition that after reading a news report about the racist remark about Sonia Gandhi, he was pained.
The Union minister had asked the Congress on Tuesday at Hajipur whether the party would have accepted Sonia Gandhi's leadership if she were not white-skinned.
Singh had also mocked at Rahul Gandhi's absence from the political scene and likened it to the "missing Malaysian airliner".
Another complaint was filed at Darbhanga.
District Congress Vice President Pawan Kumar Chaudhary filed the complaint in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Gyanendra Kumar Shrivastava against Singh.
The complaint was filed under sections 153 B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration), 500 (punishment for defamation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), complainant lawyer Birendra Kumar Singh said.
The Darbhanga CJM transferred the matter for hearing to First Class Judicial Magistrate Vishal Kumar.
