Two die in fire in Odisha

Two persons including
a five-year-old girl were charred to death in a devastating fire that engulfed their thatched house in Odisha's Rayagada district today, official sources said.
The fire destroyed at least 53 thatched houses in Tamilguda village which broke out during a high speed gale in the area, sub-collector, Gunpur, Prasant Kumar Rath said.
The deceased were identified as K Kirudu (60) and his grand-daughter Sumitra (five).
As families residing in the village have been rendered homeless, the district administration had provided relief materials including tarpoline, dry food and other relief materials and arrangements made for serving them cooked food for at least two days, Rath said.

Besides, ex-gratia would be provided as per relief code to the next of kin of the deceased and the affected villagers, he said.
