accident when a lorry, carrying Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) liquor bottles, rammed a tree and caught fire at Vankaranpettai in this district, police said.
Police said the lorry, carrying the state-run liquor outlet bottles for a unit at Tirubuvanam, was coming from Coimbatore when the driver lost control of the lorry which rammed into a roadside tree.
While the cleaner of the lorry died on the spot, the driver, who was pulled out by passers-by, died en route to hospital, police added.
The cleaner's charred body was recovered after fire force personnel doused the flames, police said, adding, the lorry was gutted.
