High drama ensued when two Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) teachers climbed a 100 feet high water storage tank situated in local civil hospital today demanding the release of their eleven arrested colleagues in Bhatinda.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Satnam Singh assured the protesters that the district administration would try to solve their long pending demands and also help in the release of the the eleven teachers and assured them that no action would be taken against them.
The teachers, who had earlier threatened to commit suicide using the bottles of petrol they were carrying, climbed down following the SDM's assurance, police said.
The teachers, Nishant Kumar, vice president state unit of EGS teachers union, and Paramjit Singh had earlier stated a protest with other teachers in Shalimar Garden.
The two had then come to civil hospital and climbed atop the water tank, police said.
