Two farmers have died allegedly of heart attack after they saw their crops suffer losses in the recent rains and hailstorm in the district, a senior official said today.
"Two farmers have died in the last couple of days. In the first incident, 60-year-old Roshan Singh Choukar from Sihora village on Saturday went to his farm to assess the crop loss, and collapsed on the spot, an official of district administration said.
He was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the official said.
In another similar incident, 58-year-old Gopal collapsed yesterday in his farm when he had gone to assess the crop loss at Hussaini village.
His relatives took him to a local hospital where he was declared dead, they said.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Dhirendra Singh Sachan said that loss to crops is again being assessed in the district.
After getting the report, the compensation would be given. In the areas where the entire crops have suffered loss, farmers are immediately being given seeds, he said.
Meanwhile, taking serious note of the losses suffered by the farmers due to rains and hailstorm, Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has released Rs 200 crore from state's emergency funds and directed officials to suspend recovery of dues from farmers.
