The court convicted Ranjan Kumar Singh and Sonu Kumar Singh for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and murder of the child and sentenced them to life term. It also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on them, a CBI spokesperson said here today.
"CBI had registered a case on August 30, 2011...On the order dated July 26, 2011 of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh...The complainant, a resident of district Mohali (Punjab), had alleged his son Master Aryan, aged about five years, went missing from near his house on July 23, 2009, after which ransom calls were received," CBI said in a statement.
During investigation it came to light that Ravi was very familiar to Aryan and used to play with him. Sonu was a close associate of Ravi. The duo, both residents of Sitamarhi (Bihar), during interrogation had admitted to have kidnapped and killed the child, the statement said.
