Two groups clash, 4 injured, 14 held

Four persons were injured after two groups, belonging to same community, clashed in Sonya village of Shamli district over alleged old election enmity, police said today.
The incident happened last night in thana bhawan police station area where groups, led by one Saleem and one Islam, clashed and resorted to brick batting and also opened fire in the air, they said.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
A total of 14 people had been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder and rioting, they said, adding that two licenced fire arms, two country-made pistols and a huge cache of ammunitions were also recovered from their possession.
Security has been tightened in the village and extra police force has been deployed to maintain peace.
Meanwhile, those arrested were produced before a local court which sent them to 14-day judicial custody.
