Two groups clash over site of borewell

Two groups clashed at Majiwada village in Bhiwandi tehsil of Thane district over the site for a new borewell yesterday, police said.
Village panchayat had decided to drill a borewell near the house of Alka Bhoir, but a group of villagers opposed it.
While one group was in favour of drilling the borewell near Bhoir's house, another wanted it to be drilled in the centre of the village, so as to be accessible to all the villagers. The latter group also said that the present location of borewell was on the road and would hinder movement.
The matter came to a head when the drilling work started near Bhoir's house yesterday morning.

Complaint and a counter-complaint of assault have been filed by two groups. Nobody has been arrested yet.
