Two persons were arrested in Maharashtra's Aurangabad district Thursday after pictures of the blackbuck they had killed went viral on social media, police said.
According to an official of Virgaon police station, the accused killed the animal, a protected species, at Shirasgaon in Vaijapur tehsil.
They planned to cook its meat and have a party.
Hunting blackbucks is prohibited under the Wildlife Protection Act.
As the pictures went viral, police and forest officials rushed to the spot and arrested the two men and seized the carcass.
The names of the accused were not disclosed.
