Two JU students arrested for molestation

Two students of Jadavpur University were today arrested in connection with a molestation case inside the varsity's campus, a senior police officer said.
"Nikhil Das, a third year student and Sonu Kumar, a second year student, both of the mechanical engineering department, were arrested in connection with the molestation case in JU on August 28," said Joint CP (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh.
The varsity's students' body had demanded a fresh probe panel to investigate the matter of the alleged sexual harassment of a girl student inside the campus and had gheraoed Vice-Chancellor Abhijeet Chakraborty and Registrar Pradip Ghosh to press their demand.

The students have been demanding the resignation of the VC holding him accountable for calling the police to the campus on September 16 night to lift the gherao and were also boycotting classes.
