The victims, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were working in an under-construction gas tank at the plant of Unichem Lab Ltd. At around 6 PM the gas tank blew up, said Pradeep Deshmukh, Superintendent of Police, Kolhapur.
The plant is located in Gokul Shirgaon MIDC (industrial estate), around 15 km south of Kolhapur city, he told PTI.
The deceased were identified as Chotuprasad Bind (28) and Girijaprasad Bunity Ben (42).
Another worker Mehandi Hasan Ansari (42) was seriously injured.
