Militants torched two NATO containers in Mastung district of Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province where a stalemate is persisting over who will be the new Chief Minister of the state.
Police officials today said militants torched the two NATO containers when they were on their way back to Karachi after supplying fuel to US and NATO troops in Afghanistan.
One official said that militants opened fire on the trucks and then set them the containers on fire.
He said while the containers were completely burnt, the drivers and cleaners managed to escape and there were no casualties.
"The incident took place in the Dasht Tehsil of Mastung district. Militants have repeatedly attacked Nato supplies in the area before," the official said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister-elect Nawaz Sharif, who is the head of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) which is set to form the government in the centre, today nominated National Party's Abdul Malik Baloch for the post of Balochistan Chief Minister.
The National Party chief was one of the three nominees for the slot of chief minister in Balochistan. Other nominees for the post of CM included Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and Nawab Changez Marri of PML-N.
After a party meeting in Murree, Sharif said the next Balochistan governor would be appointed from Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party.
