The bus was on way to Rourkela when it collided with the onion-laden truck from Raipur to Kolkata on the highway, about 8 km from here around last mid-night, Inspector In-Charge of Sadar Police station, Satyajit Das, said.
While one person died on the spot another succumbed to injury during treatment at a hospital here, he said.
Both the vehicles were burnt due to the impact of the collision.
Police personnel and fire brigade unit rushed to the spot and doused the fire. The injured persons have been admitted to a nearby hospital, the police said.
