The duo, Sajid Ansari (40) and Ayub Ansari (39), was found in a pool of blood at the outlet near Maratha Mandir in Mumbai central area this morning, police said.
Although the motive behind the double murder was not yet clear, preliminary probe suggested that the suspect, identified as Kabir, wanted to rob the two, but they did not have any cash with them.
According to Nagpada Police, the victims had been working at the petrol pump, where they would sleep after their duty hours.
Sajid used to handle the daily collection at the pump and then deposit the amount in the employer's office. Kabir must have thought Sajid had cash with him and planned to rob him, said Nandkumar Mehetar, Senior inspector of Nagpada.
"However, the duo did not have any cash with them," he added.
