Two senior Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP) leaders today joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) here today.
PPP's senior vice-president and Central Committee member Darshan Singh Mandhir and Amardeep Singh Brar joined the SAD in presence of Akali chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Welcoming Mandhir and Brar back to the partyfold, Sukhbir said Mandhir is a "political institution" in Gidderbaha Assembly segment and he himself owes his initial political upbringing to Mandhir and that he always remained an inseparable part of SAD.
Lashing out at his estranged cousin and PPP head Manpreet Singh Badal, Sukhbir said, now Manpreet's stand is fully exposed as his agenda of breaking the SAD has been exposed.
Speaking on the occasion, both Mandhir and Brar said, they were pained by the decision of Manpreet to "join hands" with Congress.
Mandhir said, he was surprised to see Congress dictating terms to PPP and Manpreet at the mercy of Congress leaders.
Manpreet's PPP, which had badly performed at the last elections, is presently a part of the 'Sanjha Morcha' comprising of the Left and SAD (Longowal) floated by former governor Surjeet Singh Barnala.
Speculations are rife that Manpreet might join Congress and contest against her sister-in-law and Sukhbir's wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal from Bathinda seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
