Two railway officials get three years RI in corruption case

A special CBI court here today sentenced two railway officials to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2014 corruption case.
Principal Special Judge for CBI cases convicted K Nageswar Rao, Head Master, Railways Boys High School and K Narasimhalu, Chief Office Superintendent at South Central Railway and awarded the sentence.
They were convicted for criminal conspiracy, cheating under relevant IPC sections. The also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
The court also convicted them under different sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. It sentenced them to three years imprisonment and also imposed fines.
"The court ordered that all the sentences shall run concurrently and the total fine amount imposed is Rs 1 lakh each," the CBI said in a release.

The case was registered on July 31, 2014 on the charge of demanding illegal gratification of Rs 3 lakh from a complainant, who is a senior drawing teacher, at the Railways Boys High School, for managing alleged vigilance inquiry against the complainant with regard to her caste certificate, the CBI said.
They (the two railway officials) were apprehended at the residence of complainant while demanding and accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe in cash and two cheques for Rs 1 lakh each, the central agency said.
