Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul today told Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to help young talents in the state realise their full potential and stressed that such CSR activities will be a significant step in nation building.
Being an organisation based in Doon valley, it must make special efforts towards "adopting" sportspersons and helping them get facilities and training so that they can compete well at national and international sporting events, he said.
The Governor was speaking at a programme in ONGC Academy here to mark the state-run firms' Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Paul also said girls from underprivileged families in remote hill areas of the state must be supported for good higher education.
"CSR activities like these will help boost the progress and development of the state and will be a significant step in nation building," the Governor said.
Congratulating all employees of the organisation on the occasion, he said the Doon valley, the headquarters of ONGC, could not be imagined without its existence,as the growth of this corporate giant, since its inception in 1956, has been almost synonymous with the growth of Dehradun.
