U2 dedicate pride song to gay marriage voters in Ireland

U2 marked history in their native Ireland at a gig in Arizona by dedicating their anthem "Pride" (In The Name Of Love) to those who voted in favour of gay marriage hours before the band hit the stage.
Frontman Bono slightly altered the lyrics to the song to reference the results of a referendum on same sex marriage during the band's gig in Phoenix, reported Rolling Stones magazine.
"We have peace in Ireland today! And in fact on this very day we have true equality in Ireland!," he said,
In what was a huge turn-out, more than 60 per cent of Irish voters agreed gay marriage should be legal, and the results sent shock waves through the celebrity world with stars like Miley Cyrus and Sam Smith celebrating the historic victory for gay rights activists.

U2 kicked off their new world tour in Vancouver, Canada on
May 14.
