UAE arrests three Indians for smuggling narcotic poppy

Custom inspectors at the Abu Dhabi International Airport have foiled the smuggle of huge quantity of narcotic poppy seeds weighing 128.2 kg, the WAM news agency reported.

On inspection, 52 bags of narcotic poppy seeds, weighing 52 kg were found with the first suspect, an Indian, while the second and third suspects, both Indians, were respectively found out to carry 35.1 kg and 41.1 kg of narcotic poppy, the report said.

The three accused - arrived in the UAE on a flight that arrived from India - were referred to a competent authority, it said. PTI
